Mel Gibson has played a cowboy, a scottish knight, and a cop and for the last few years he's played a recovering alcoholic who's religious views temporarily derailed his career.

After what he calls a hiatus we call it a trip to promises and now mel is back on the big screen.

This time around he went back to his roots he's a cop with nothing to lose,

And a mystery to solve.

Mel gibson is thomas craven a man whose life has revolved around being a boston cop and a single dad. But when crime shows up at his front door craven becomes a man on mission.

I know what you're thinking Mel Gibson in a role with vigilante justice and revenge... Now there's a stretch think the patriot, mixed with a lethal weapon, and of course braveheart.

MEL GIBSON: "I think its a good yard and its a thriller its a good mystery. its good grief, loss, what happens when love loses ones off spring. how does that pull the rug out from under you from leaving your chip in someone so you can depart."

So is this revenge or is this vigilante justice?

RAY WINSTONE: "From my point of view watching the film as a parent watching it -revenge."

Mel's been known to wear his religious beliefs on his sleeve also, the back seat of a police car. So we couldn't let the one religious reference in the movie go unnoticed.

MEL GIBSON: "It means are you willing to sacrifice for something better or are you just going to take--thats all."

We're sure there's a deeper meaning...Mel was just on his best behavior.

RAY WINSTONE: "Are you the executioner or are you the one who is getting executed i dont know i could mean anything."

So in a movie about revenge and avenging a loved one's death, were their characters the
