Chinese New Years

Watch the video. Watch the video

For Deco and the tabloids, the year of the tiger started Thanksgiving weekend, but for the rest of the world, the year of the tiger started February 14th Chinese New Year. One of South Florida's most luxurious hotels celebrated the event with a huge bash. What better place than the mandarin oriental to ring in the new year.

Dancing dragons and delicious chinese dishes, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel hosted an authentic Chinese New Year's party that brought a taste of bejing to the magic city.

ANTONIO RECILLAS: "We are celebrating the chinese new year and we have a fantastic menu put together by a team tonight."

Guests enjoyed an amazing array of Chinese dishes including peking duck, grilled shrimp and chinese baby back ribs.

A troupe of dancing tigers performed for the crowd. The tradition is meant to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

ANTONIO RECILLAS: "What that represents. is that everywhere they go, and all the people they visit, it just assures good luck for the whole year."

If you wanted to be sure of your good fortune fortune tellers were on hand to predict your future. For these folks, it was a very good year.

CRAIG KELLOR: "Great costumes, great detail. I wouldn't want to be the one hunched over in the back all the time."

While Miami doesn't have a Chinatown like New York or San Fran, thanks to the Mandarin Oriental we can ring in Chinese New Year in style.
